why trash rags?

i just wanted to start this blog with talking a bit about my shop. why should you feel good about shopping with me? here are just a few reasons:

my products are one of a kind. i custom modify all of the clothing you see. no two shirts will ever be exactly the same. you can be sure that you'll be the only person wearing your tee. though some of the items may be very similar, each is hand crafted. you can feel good that your product wasn't assembled on some huge assembly line; it was put together by me, personally.

my products are eco-friendly. by this i mean RECYCLED! (: i'm super into turning trash into treasure. some of the jewelry you see may have belonged to ten different necklaces and bracelets in it's past life. the girl's size small dress may have been a men's extra large tee. the lady's fitted shirt may have been three different shirts, fused together as one. you can feel good about buying my products because you aren't contributing to a large corporation. you're supporting a local artisan who is turning trash, so to speak, into treasure. revamped, recycled and refurbished - and read to wear by you.

my products are cruelty-free. since i am vegan, all of my creations you see are vegan. most of my shirts consist of cotton. no fleece or wool. you can be happy to wear your trash rags or dirty jewels and know that no creature was harmed in the making. (:

i would wear the products i sell. i think this is so important because i have great pride in the items i sell. i made a promise to myself that i would never sell anything i would not wear myself. i want people to love wearing my creations as much as i love creating them.

i want to break the mold. for some reason, people tend to link the terms "straightedge" and "vegan" with negative images. i am both of these. i suppose when people think "straightedge," they image some big tattooed guy at a show, moshing and picking fights with people who are drinking and smoking. when people think "vegan," they might picture some hippy tree-hugger in earthy tones or maybe even...[shudder] the crazy folks at PETA! i am all about promoting a drug free and poison free lifestyle. this means abstaining from drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, animal products, specism, violence, immoral or wrong to my standards. i don't force these views on anyway, but i strongly support and promote the lifestyle.

one on one connection. if you e-mail me, you won't get an automated e-mail back. you won't be waiting around for a week for a response. you won't hear from my secretary. you will be dealing with me directly. i take great pride in my work ethic. if you ever need to contact me, you can message me through etsy or by mailing trashrags@gmail.com. i will happily and promptly get back with you.
